N147UA firm crosswind landing

United Airlines 747SP N147UA (c/n: 21548)

On April 8:th 1989, United 747SP N147UA was on approach to SYD – Sydney Airport to land with a total of 247 people onboard..
At the time there was a crosswind so the aircraft crabbed into the wind during landing.

The aircraft hit the ground firmly with a crab and due to corrosion in the right main gear trunnion the gear moved aft!!

SOFIA will end operations
